Short Term Accommodation, which includes respite care, is a form of support that provides temporary accommodation when the participant needs to stay away from home for a brief period. The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding for Short Term Accommodation under the Core Supports budget category when the need for it is directly related to the participant’s disability. Both the participant and their caregivers benefit from this NDIS-funded support as it offers a temporary respite from the regular routine for both parties involved.
Short Term Accommodation (STA) aims to help participants develop new skills, build their confidence, and enhance their independence, all while maintaining the level of assistance that they require to go about their day. STA funding not only covers the cost of temporary accommodation but also includes personal care, food and assistance with any other activities that have been agreed upon by the participant and their service provider. Short Term Accommodation including respite support could be the right option for you if you are:

Participants can access up to 28 days of Short-Term Accommodation per year in a flexible manner. That means you can make use of it for a period of up to 14 days at a stretch, or one weekend per month.
