Maharashtra Electronics Corporation has come a long way since Mr. Harbans Singh Chhabra started a store at Rasta Peth in 1975 with a small investment. The store sold radios, transistors, and other electrical items. Since then, it has been a long and eventful journey of four decades. As the business started growing steadily, MEC never looked back and ventured into consumer electronics opening multi-brand and exclusive showrooms at several prime locations in Pune.
Showrooms:
Today, MEC runs Twelve showrooms across Pune, all at prime locations. There are five multi-brand and three exclusive stores. The average area of the showrooms is around 4000 to 6000 sq. ft. and the largest being the multi-brand showroom at Wakad admeasuring around 7000 sq. ft. All the showrooms are centrally air-conditioned and designed to offer an excellent shopping experience for customers.
Tie-Ups:
MEC has a direct dealership with several renowned brands in consumer electronics. They have always believed in having a direct tie-up with the manufacturing company, as it avoids the lengthy chain of intermediaries and customers can get products at an extremely competitive price.
MEC also has tie-ups with several financial institutions to help customers buy their products without any hassle. These include Bajaj Finserv and Capital First. Tie-ups help customers get easy finance options to buy MEC products avoiding paying the entire price upfront.
Customer Base:
MEC has a customer base of around 2 lakh people. Positive word of mouth and goodwill of their retail customers has helped the business grow consistently. A sizeable chunk of business also comes from their corporate customers from various sectors like real estate, manufacturing, education, healthcare, automobiles, entertainment, IT, government, etc. MEC has a dedicated team of personnel to cater to corporate inquiries.
