Description
Xanax 1mg is a medication prescribed for the treatment of anxiety and panic disorders. The generic name of Xanax is alprazolam. It works by controlling the central nervous system (CNS) to send signals (GABA) to the brain, which suppress the abnormal and excessive activity of nerve cells in the brain. It inhibits the production of a chemical that is responsible for anxiety and panic disorders.
Xanax 1mg is a fast-acting, medium-lasting tranquilizer that belongs to the triazolobenzodiazepine (TBZD) class of benzodiazepines (BZDs) attached to the triazole ring. It is commonly used to treat anxiety disorders in the short term, such as panic disorder or generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).

Xanax tablets contain alprazolam which is a triazole analog of the 1,4 benzodiazepine class of central nervous system active compounds. Alprazolam is a white crystalline powder, soluble in methanol or ethanol, but it has no appreciable solubility in water at physiological pH.
What is the standard dosage?
Panic Disorder:
Initially, 0.25 mg by mouth twice daily. After 3 days, the dose may be increased by 0.125 mg to 0.25 mg twice daily every 3 days to a target dose of 1 mg per day. Seizures:
1.5 mg per day divided into 3 doses. The dose may be increased by 0.5 mg to 1 mg every 3 days to a maximum dose of 20 mg per day.
Panic Disorder:
Immediate-release or ODT tablets: 0.5 mg by mouth three times daily. The dose may be increased by up to 1 mg per day every 3 to 4 days to a range of 1 to 10 mg/day. Extended-release tablets:
0.5 mg to 1 mg by mouth once daily. The dose may be increased by up to 1 mg per day every 3 to 4 days to a range of 3 to 6 mg per day.
